Hi everyone,

Here we are again another AGM gone and another long hot season stretching before us. My thanks to those 34 members who turned up for the AGM, our best turn out for a while. We have established a committee and have some new members on that: Sue Evans as Club Captain, Russell Lyons and Michael Herbert as site managers are hoping to be able to turn their hands and yours to all those wee tasks that need doing around the club. Marian Harford has agreed to be Secretary with some of those tasks being shared out amongst the rest of the committee.

Our congratulations to Maureen LaPlante who won the Donald Dickson trophy for “Sportsmanship” and to Stuart Tabuteau for winning the “Most Improved” player- both those members have also served on the committee and contributed hugely to the smooth functioning of the club.

It was passed at the AGM that an overall 5% increase in the headline subscriptions and increase in interclub fees ($65 for 1 team) and $100 (if playing in 2 teams) be accepted. So for those of you intending to play both singles and doubles be aware of the increase and make your decision now as to whether you can commit to both, not pull out once the teams have been decided. If you have any reservations please contact Linda Brownbridge to discuss options.

The interclub fee increase is in response to the increase per team put on by Tennis North and we found that we were also subsidising those who played in two teams.

Interclub this year will be using WILSON balls and there is a commitment from the manufacturer to provide better quality balls than last time!

Opening days will start from Sunday 15th August and you can pay your subs from then on. This year there is a different approach in that a 10 % penalty will be imposed for those who pay after the due dates. Seniors August 31st and Juniors Sept 30th.

The enrolment form will soon be able to be downloaded from the website and available at the club. There has been a change in the eligibility date for under 18’s, if you are still 18 as at the 30/04/2011 you are eligible to play under the junior umbrella. Previously if you had turned 18 by Dec 31st of the playing season you were ineligible. So that means most Year 13’s will still be able to play for the juniors, but you are also welcome to play for the seniors as well if you are over 14 and of acceptable standard but you must then pay the senior interclub fee.

WORKING BEE planned for Sunday Sept 12th from 10am- all hands on deck to tidy up prior to interclub starting.

Cheers your committee
