Seniors Tennis 

With over 100 Senior members in the club, there are plenty of people to play with and a variety of social and competitive tennis events for you to participate in.

A full Senior membership entitles you to participate in all Social Tennis events, Club Days and Club Champs, and to join one of our interclub teams. Those of you lucky enough not to work 9 to 5 can also participate in Mid-week tennis.

The subscription year goes from 1st Sept to 31st Aug, with a popular winter league organised for the cooler months. It's a great way to keep fit and avoid the winter blues.

Social Tennis Events
Social tournaments and events are a good opportunity for you to play with a variety of different players, and pick up a few tips from the more experienced players to improve your game. You don't have to be a superstar to play in social club tournaments. Everyone is encouraged to participate. We puts a lot of effort into ensuring that games are evenly matched. Some tournaments use a handicap system, so the stronger players start off with a disadvantage.

Club Days
These are run on Sundays from 1pm throughout the summer season - approximately July/August through to April, with a break over December and January.
NOTE: Club Days are sometimes replaced with tournaments. Check the Events Calendar for more info.

You give your name to the duty person, who puts you on a court with 3 others. About every 20 minutes, you change to play with different people. It usually goes for around 4 hours, but you can join in at any time.
Visitors are welcome and the first 3 visits are free. If they wish to continue after that, they must pay a visitors fee or join the club.

Interclub
We have a strong presence in the Tennis Northern Interclub competition with teams in most Doubles grades and several Singles teams as well. Latest teams list available here (also on Club Noticeboard)

Club Champs
Club Champs (singles, doubles and mixed doubles) are played every year and trophies are awarded to the winners at the end of season prizegiving. All events have a main draw and a plate, so even if you lose your first game, you can still win the plate.
Club Champs are played near the end of the interclub season. Players choose their own doubles partners. Entry is free.
Handicap Champs are played near the beginning of the interclub season. Doubles partners are drawn by the Tennis Committee and handicaps are set accordingly. There is no fee to enter.

Winter League
Keep your hand in during winter by playing in our weekend winter league competition. Teams are made up from within the club and play each other in a round robin competition spanning several weeks. Teams are organised so they are fairly even, so some good matches result.
